Why grind out stumps?

 

After felling of a tree there is always a stump, tree stump or stump left in the ground. Milling out the tree stumps is often useful or necessary. There are several reasons for this:

• make way for it planting a new tree,
• make way for planting beds,
• leveling the lawn where there was a tree, so that the robotic lawnmower can do its work,
• making way for the construction of a terrace, swimming pool, garden house, etc.
• not leaving a breeding ground for parasitic fungi, which can then affect other trees,

Which stumps can we grind out or remove?

 

With our stump grinder we can grind stumps up to 50 cm deep. And if you want us to mill the roots too, that is no problem.

We also have a crawler crane with ripper tines. Which can remove roots up to 90 cm deep in the soil. For example, this is very interesting to remove the stumps from a conifer hedge or laurel hedge. Then you don't need a stump grinder, and we can use the crawler crane to remove both the tree stump and the associated roots at once. And then the soil is as good as ready for planting a new hedge or bed.

 

 

Dispose of milling residues after milling out the tree stumps

 

After milling stumps from affected trees, it is best to dispose of the milling residues. This is to leave as little affected material as possible in your garden. By removing the affected material, the infection pressure for the new planting is much smaller.

It is also easier to plant new trees afterwards. Because then you will have space available again.

You naturally choose whether or not we dispose of the milling residues.

 

 

Removing roots with tap and ripper tooth after milling stumps

 

After felling one or more trees, in addition to grinding out the large stumps, we can also remove the roots with our crawler crane and root tine (also called root tine or ripper tine).

It is best to grind out large stumps, especially if it is a smaller garden where you cannot reach with a large crawler crane. First milling out the stumps and then removing the roots with a small crawler crane is the best solution.

Afterwards we dispose of everything properly. Either manually, if access space is limited, or with our crawler crane, sorting grab and container.

Sometimes it is faster to work with a crawler crane, ripper tine and sorting grab than grinding the stumps with a stump grinder. So make sure you are well informed about what is cheapest for your situation.

We can also remove large stumps efficiently and neatly with a large crawler crane and root tine. But then of course space is needed.

Please note, we use road plates if necessary, so that we do not compact the soil, because this is very bad for the trees. A machine that is too large can cause soil compaction, causing a lack of oxygen in the soil. And this is bad for the remaining trees.
